Brainworks Team

Our biggest strength is our team. We've worked together a long time, and consider ourselves a family.

When you first get in touch, you’ll speak with James. A founding director of the company, few people know more about brain training than he does. He will expertly answer your questions, review your case and help find the best approach for you. He oversees your experience with us from start to finish.

If your assessment or sessions are done in the London clinic, you’ll meet another of our founders, Christina. She takes care of everything in London from the initial brain map to the final session.

If your sessions are done at home, you’ll meet Dr Starr (Freddy). An American Psychiatrist with 16 years’ in neurofeedback, Dr Starr supervises all home sessions; he handles your initial brain map, creates your training plan, oversees your sessions and reviews the final results with you.

Assisting Dr Starr is a team of highly experienced, BCIA certified neurofeedback therapists; Ida, Sean, and Lita. They connect by internet to run your daily sessions, help with questions, and assist you while you train.

Behind it all is another of our founders, Sarah. She will be in touch for payments, shipping, or anything logistical. Nothing runs without Sarah.

James ('Jamie') Roy

Technical Director Brainworks and Transformational Retreats, client coordinator, 10 years exp.

James Roy - Founder and Director of Education and Development, Certified Neurofeedback Specialist

Jamie is Brainworks' client liaison, Director of Research and Development, co-founder of Brainworks and Transformational Retreats. He keeps us up-to-date on all the latest technical wizardry, keeps us 'web-connected' and develops new tools to keep us ahead.

Struggling to overcome his own dyslexia in the 1970's gave Jamie a keen interest in the mind. By the time he was 12 he had grown into an early compter nerd and brain-geek. In his early thirties, he began a personal quest to uncover the inner mechanisms behind the brain and the process of inner growth. With neuroscience still in its infancy, he looked abroad.

He dedicated the next seven years to travelling the globe for a first-hand education in traditional mind sciences. He ordained as a Buddhist Monk, studied with a wide range of yogis, traditional healers and village shamans; all the while keeping up with the fast advancing field of neuroscience. The insights gained from these studies led Jamie and his wife Sarah to pioneer neurofeedback and mind technologies in the UK.

As well as continued involvement with clients, Jamie is currently in Costa writing a book on the brain and self-development. He develops new brain training concepts, and is also a neurotherapist and bodyworker on Transformational Retreats.

Supporting Services

Dr Isabelle Martineau, MD (Paris), MBSBM, LFHom

Functional Medicine, Bioregulatory Medicine, Naturopathic Nutrition

Isabelle

Dr Isabelle Martineau graduated as a medical doctor in Paris at the University of Pierre et Marie Curie in the Hospital Saint Antoine. She trained and qualified in the specialty of Endocrinology, Metabolic Diseases and Nutrition. Over the past years, Dr Martineau decided to have a more integrative approach into her  medical practise and furthered/extended her education with a diploma in bioregulatory medicine, naturopathic nutrition. and accreditation from the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM).

Instead of following a reductionist model which takes care of the symptoms, Bioregulatory Medicine and Functional Medicine utilise tools to uncover the root causes of the illness to restore equilibrium to the different systems of the body. Functional medicine takes into account not only the chemical and hormonal imbalances but also the mental state and past psychological events as emotions, personal history and health are strongly linked (Psycho-Neuro-Endocrino-Immuno system) .

In this, Dr. Isabelle recognised a perfect match between Functional Medicine, naturopathic nutrition and Neurofeedback. Dr. Isabelle's integrative approach, ethos, and medical viewpoint are equally well matched. It is a natural partnership.
