If appropriate, we may recommend biofeedback to support your neurofeedback sessions.

Biofeedback has been in clinical use for decades, and the field has moved forward significantly in recent years. We use biofeedback to aid in heart / breath coherence, for heart rate variability training, or for galvanic skin response and skin temperature training. 

With the new generation of low price, high quaility portable biofeedback on the market, we no longer offer biofeedback in our clinic. Instead, if biofeedback is appropriate, we will recommend a biofeedback app to suit your need. 

HRV Biofeedback

Heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback works with the variation between heart beats. Bringing the heart variability and breath rythms into alignment helps calm the emotional system. For HRV (Heart Rate Variability) biofeedback, we recommend the Emwave2 (on Amazon UK here...)

GSR Biofeedback

Your skin conductance is linked to your state of relaxation or stress. Through learning to control your skin conductance, you learn to control your stress levels (what is biofeedback). For Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) biofeedback, we recommend the PIP (on Amazon UK here...)

Skin Temperature Biofeedback

The skin's surface temperature changes according to blood circulation. During exertion or stress, the blood flow is restricted and the temperature falls; in a relaxed state, the skin temperature rises.
This makes temperature biofeedback useful for stress management, though its most common use is as method to interrupt the onset of migraine headaches. For skin temperature biofeedback, we recommend the Mindfield eSense (available here...)
